Empowering
Ability: TUT Continuing Education (TUT CE) a directorate of Tshwane University of
Technology (TUT) Partners with Department of Employment and Labour,
Compensation Fund to Deliver the following training to Persons with
Disabilities:
In a meaningful move towards fostering inclusive growth within our communities, TUT CE is pleased to collaborate with the Compensation Fund, the entity of the Department of Employment and Labour on a new initiative focused on empowering persons with disabilities through essential entrepreneurial skills. This partnership reflects our shared belief in the power of collaboration to drive positive change. By offering comprehensive training programmes that encourage self-employment, innovation, and sustainable livelihoods, we aim to open pathways for meaningful participation in the economy. Together, we hope to support our participants in realizing their potential and strengthening the fabric of our communities through collective effort.
“Through this collaboration, selected candidates will receive tailored entrepreneurial training, mentorship, and support, ensuring that the programmes are not only accessible but also responsive to the unique challenges faced by individuals living with disabilities” said Potso Mathekga Director, at Tshwane University of Technology Continuing Education (TUT CE).
“In today's rapidly evolving labour market, the ability to adapt and remain employable is more critical than ever before. The Compensation Fund (the Fund) is at the forefront of addressing the precarious challenge of unemployment by participating in training programmes tailored to end skills mismatch, funding entrepreneurially focused training interventions and inspiring hope through the Fund’s transformative Vocational Rehabilitation Programme and Bursary Scheme support.” Said Government Ms Nthabiseng Magonono, Acting Chief Director, Orthotics and Rehabilitation at the Department of Employment and Labour: Compensation Fund
Concomitant to this partnership, the Compensation Fund does not only focus on empowerment, but also on fundamentally changing the lives of vulnerable communities, particularly Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) affected by the advent of occupational injuries and diseases. It is for this reason that we are equally excited to work with TUT.
The Vocational Rehabilitation Programme supports the general welfare of vulnerable individuals by inter alia, providing bursary support to dependents of Compensation Fund Beneficiaries with permanent disablement, dependents of fatally injured workers, the missing middle students and general youth.
