This programme is certified by Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and CEU credits awarded by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Upon completion of the programme (attendance and assessments), participants will be awarded with 40 CEU credits including a certificate of competence .

The programme will provide you with an opportunity to improve your technical and clinical knowledge and skills required for you to operate the MRI equipment competently. It will enhance your skills in applying appropriate scanning protocols to demonstrate pathology and anatomy. Participants will be updated on MRI safety rules and regulations.

  • MRI components and basic principles
  • MRI image weighting and contrast
  • MRI encoding and image formation.
  • Selection of appropriate scanning protocols and scanning parameters.
  • MRI image quality and artefacts
  • Pattern Recognition

  • MRI safety and regulations
  • Ethics: ethical concepts as applied in healthcare practice

    This short learning programme is intended Radiography, Nuclear Medicine or Radiotherapy.

  • Entry Requirements

    This programme is aimed at Radiographers who have a minimum qualification of a National Diploma, B-Tech or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine or Radiotherapy, who are wishing to enter the field of MRI scanning with no previous experience, as well as radiographers who have worked in MRI without extensive formal training. It is assumed that the participants registering for this programme have at least a working background in cross-sectional anatomy.
