The programme is offered as a five-day short learning programme. This entails the write-up of proposals and dissertations as well as quantitative methods of data analyses. The statistical package, STATA, will be used for teaching.

After completion of this programme, the delegate should be able to produce research proposals for a postgraduate level study, and perform data entry, manipulation, and analysis in STATA in areas that are related to descriptive statistics, one-sample tests, two-sample tests, chi- square tests of association, the analysis of variance, simple and multiple linear regression analysis, binary and multiple logistic regression analysis and sample size and power calculations.

• Study designs
• The write-up of postgraduate level research proposals and dissertations
• The calculation of sample sizes and power for quantitative studies
• Summary of raw and grouped data sets using quantitative and graphical methods
• One and two-sample tests on means and proportions
• The Pearson chi-square test of association (cross- tab analyses)
• Simple and multiple linear regression and correlation analysis
• Binary and multinomial logistic regression analysis
• How to use the statistical package STATA for quantitative data analyses
