The purpose of this programme is to capacitate the participants with the required knowledge and practical experience to be able to interpret and apply the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 and its attending regulations; SANS 17020 conformity system and the Department of Employment and Labour requirements for the approval of Approved Inspection Authorities.

Dr Oscar Rikhotso

Dr O Rikhotso, currently a lecture and coordinator of the Legal Knowledge Certificate course at the Tshwane University of Technology, Department of Environmental Health, has extensive knowledge and background in all aspects of occupational hygiene and health gained from the petrochemical industry, practically gained from general industry.

Dr Rikhotso is a SAIOH-registered Occupational Hygienist who holds the Legal Knowledge Certificate for AIAs and a certificate on SANAS Inspection Body Systems Course (based on ISO/IEC 17020:2012). He previously served as a technical signatory from his previous employers’ AIA as well as being a deputy technical manager for assigned technical stressors.

Dr Rikhotso, a fledgling academic researcher, has a growing publication vitae in peer reviewed scientific journals. He currently serves SAIOH in various fora and is a registered mentor for aspiring and upcoming occupational hygiene professionals.
